Image Galleries are back Up.

I have begun adding the old Buckets Cafe image galleries back to the website. They are displayed in a cool, but simple, flash gallery script I found. I have only uploaded the Halloween Party pictures from 2006. Click the link below to check them out.

Ellis Square Time Lapse, Savannah, GA

This is a wonderful time lapse video of the building of Ellis Square in downtown Savannah, Georgia taken over five years from December 2005 to March 2010.

Ellis Square was one of the original squares in Savannah when the city was laid out by General James Oglethorpe in the 1730’s, but over the years it had become a farmers market and then a very unsightly downtown parking structure.

Guy's 10.20.30 Rule.....

I am working on a project and I just received some incredible help.   It came from the book "The Art of the Start" by Guy Kawasaki.  It is easy to read and very practical.  Here is a sample of some of the valuable information, the 10/20/30 rule.

  • Ten slides. Ten is the optimal number of slides in a PowerPoint presentation because a normal human being cannot comprehend more than ten concepts in a meeting—and venture capitalists are very normal. (The only difference between you and venture capitalist is that he is getting paid to gamble with someone else’s money). If you must use more than ten slides to explain your business, you probably don’t have a business. The ten topics that a venture capitalist cares about are:
    1. Problem
    2. Your solution
    3. Business model
    4. Underlying magic/technology
    5. Marketing and sales
    6. Competition
    7. Team
    8. Projections and milestones
    9. Status and timeline
    10. Summary and call to action

Self Storage Meets The Shining

This is a unique perspective on a climate controlled storage space. I wonder if the cam was on a tricycle?

Promoted Tweets

Aside from a few small deals with Google,  Yahoo, and Microsoft  to integrate Twitter  updates into search results, Twitter has held off announcing any kind of  real monetization plan. The founders have said that they want to follow  Google's path: create a product everyone wants to use, and then figure  out a way to make money from it after. Today, the New  York Times revealed exactly how Twitter plans to do that--at  least, how they plan to start doing it.

Twitter calls  this first step Promoted Tweets.   Advertisers, which at launch will include Best Buy, Virgin America,   Bravo, and Starbucks, can buy keywords used by Twitterers in search.   When a user searches for one of an advertiser's purchased keywords, an   ad will appear at the top of that user's Twitter feed. The Promoted   Tweets will be in smaller than usual type, and will turn yellow when the   cursor is passed over them.

Hearing is Believing: Woody Norris wants to tell you something......from 100 yards away.

There are definately many benefitial applications for the zeroing in of sound and I'm excited to see how we will put it to use. And he mentions the cancelling of sound, and that opens up a whole other world of conveniences I can think of. This certainly opens my mind to so many possibilities.

Woody Norris shows off two of his inventions that treat sound in new ways, and talks about his nontraditional approach to inventing and education. As he puts it: "Almost nothing has been invented yet." So -- what's next?
